John M. Conroy, M. D.

Greenwood, Clark Co., Wisconsin

The first resident physician in Greenwood, Dr. H. J. Thomas, built a drug store and office on the lot next to Wollenberg's Meat Market, where the Gullord Pharmacy later stood (see the photo below).  Doctor John M. Conroy was one of his many physicians which followed and the advertisement above ran in the August 9, 1901 Greenwood Gleaner.  Alfred Kristianson was the registered pharmacist who was a graduate of the Highland Park College of Pharmacy in De Moines, Iowa. In a letter to his father, he shared the words of President Rearick who said, “Your son is counted as one of our most earnest students. He is an earnest, honest, enthusiastic worker.”

A wide range of items were sold including mixed paints made from both lead and oil as well as brushes, turpentine, fly paper, Paris Green, Family Syringes, Fountain Syringes, Hard Rubber Syringes and Hot Water Bottles.
