On our first stop we found forty-nine
Freshmen starting on their high school careers. The class immediately
organized under the leadership of efficient officers: President--Alice Goeke,
Vice President--William Englebretson, Secretary--Ruth Johnson, Treasurer--Donald
Lenz. With Miss Bienfang as our adviser, the trying days of Froshdom
passed smoothly and safely.
The fall of 1936 found forty-two
Sophomores. The well-chosen class officers led us successfully through
this year. President--LaVern Durst, Vice President--Lillian Kindt,
Secretary--Esther Hegenbarth, Treasurer--Elmer Schwarze, and Echoes Staff
representative--Alice Goeke. We were guided by our adviser, Mr. Schwahn.
Seven members of our class played in the band while eight took part in
forensics. Our activities during the year proved a credit to the school as
well as to the class.
Our next stop found the same group, ready
for the added duties and increased responsibilities of full-fledged Juniors.
LaVern Durst was reelected President with Viola Thompson as Vice President and
Verdelle Turnquist as Secretary and Treasurer. Our class was again
prominent in the activities of the school, placing first or second in most
events. This year Mr. Schwahn and Mr. Walker were our advisers.
Three Juniors had important roles in the all school play, "Glass Dishes".
It was our year to give a prom, and we hop that it will be one long to be
remembered.
The success we have achieved is evident
since we are about to replace the Seniors in the work they have completed.
How well our duties will be performed is still a question.
