Band work continued throughout the summer and gained momentum after school had started on September 7, 1937.  The various instruments were divided into classes which met once a week on Thursday.  At 8:00 in the morning and again at 3:15 in the afternoon the band met for mass ensemble rehearsal.  This schedule was maintained during the school months, but during the summer months the senior band met at 9:00 in the morning with Mr. Hamel instructing beginners in band work during the afternoon.

Lat in the spring of 1937 the band entered the Pittsville Band Tournament and took first place in concert playing and specialty numbers.

During the course of the summer the band played for several concerts.  They also took part in the Band Tournament at Marshfield where they again took first place in concert playing.  Later in the summer the band played at the Withee carnival; Withee and Owen Bands also took part in the festivities.

The Band Parents' Club drive for new uniforms was helped along by an appropriation.  As a result, the new uniforms were purchased as well as many new school band instruments costing approximately a thousand dollars.

The band's first appearance in the new uniforms was at the unveiling of Professor Durig's Peace Memorial on October 3, 1937.

Mr. M. G. Hamel is the instructor, and he is a pioneer of school bands in Wisconsin.  He has taught school bands since 1926 making this his twelfth year in the work. His bands have often been the first place winners at the State Band Tournaments.
