1938 Commercial Club

The Club was organized in the fall of 1937 by Mr. Hinkle. It had a membership of fourteen students; Cletus Susa, Phyllis Swenson, Lorraine Schwarze, Dede Perman, Marguerite Wells, Melvin Mech, Garth Haeuser, Eulilla Emberson and Laverne Brown. The requirements of the club were: any Junior or Senior in High School who had received a "C" grade or better for one year in one of two commercial subjects was eligible for membership. It was started for the purpose of sponsoring school parties.
The officers of the club were: President--Cletus Susa; Vice President--Laverne Brown; Secretary and Treasurer--Marguerite Wells.
The Commercial Club sponsored a Carnival which was held in the gymnasium. The following is a list of events of the Carnival and what organization put it on.
Western Union--Freshmen
Weight Guessing--Sophomores
Dance--Juniors
Fish Pond--Seniors
Freak Show, Airplane Ride and Hot Dogs--Commercial Club
Pop--Home Economics Club
Target Throwing--F.F.A.
The club is thinking of sponsoring a party or some school function at the end of the year.
