The Forensic Elimination Contest was held in the Greenwood High School, on the afternoon and evening of March 15, 1938.
There were four Orations, five Readings, six Dramatic and three Humorous Declamations.
The winners in Oratory were: first, Frances Meng; second Doris Marquardt.
For Dramatic Declamations: first Eileen Behrens; second, Lillian Kindt.
For Humorous: first, Lorraine Schwarze; second, Margaret Thorson.
For Reading: first, Eulilla Emberson; second, Velma Rhode.
Norbert Jolivett represented us in Extemporaneous Speaking.
The District Conference for Forensics was held on April 6, part of which was at Granton and part at Greenwood.
Debate
The question debated this year was; "Resolved that the several states should adopt a unicameral system of legislation."
Several practice debates were held with Colby, Loyal, and Granton.
The members on the Negative team were Doris Marquardt, Alice Goeke, Margaret Thorson, Elaine Buker, and Irene Weidman. The members of the Affirmative team were Stanton Gaylord, Eileen Behrens and Viola Thompson.
On February 12, the debaters entered a tournament at Stevens Point where they took second place.
