Zion American Lutheran Church
Luther League
The Luther League of Zion American Lutheran Church of Granton, Wisconsin was organized in February of 1909. The first officers written down were:
Pres. Pastor Jacob Reiff
V. Pres. Henry Braatz
Treas. Anna Teatz
Sect. Elsie Grassman
Organist Edith Kurzrok
Janitor August Hillert
In 1924 they decided to help toward the purchasing of an organ for the church. They put on a play to help make some money.
In 1931 they started a church library.
They sent $25.00 for the upkeep of a child of India. The Luther League paid for wiring the school house. They bought some chairs, Christmas tree trimmings and some hymnals. They presented Edward Winter with a private communion set at the time of his ordination. They wrote letters to the service men. The Leaguers painted the school house. They have put up the Nativity Scene at Christmas time. The Leaguers have had stands at the Mission Festivals.
Christmas Cards, Christmas Seals and “The Lutheran Standard” have been sold by the Luther League.
In 1952 the Pine Valley members joined the Granton Luther League.
They have given $20.00 toward the Centennial Carpet Fund and $90.00 for the Building Fund.
The Luther League provides ushers for communion service and for ushering at church services.
