The Cloverbelt Scholar Banquet was held April 1, 2014 in Granton. Over 180 students, parents and teachers from all 18 Cloverbelt schools were in attendance. The scholar banquet is held annually and recognizes two students per school who demonstrate leadership abilities and have at least a 3.5 grade point average. Area recipients included: Colby - Makala Bach and Lisa Horacek; Granton Lance Thomas and Olivia VerKilen; Greenwood - Meagen Cramer and Rachel Esselman; Loyal - Laura Kaiser and Valorie Brecht; Marshfield Columbus - Samuel Studinger and Narian Jeong; Neillsville - Katelyn Crothers and Taylor Gleisner; Spencer - Jeremiah Cattanach and Kayla Kolstad. Keynote speaker and Granton alumnus, Liz Vanderwerff, spoke about the positive impact a rural school and rural life had on her life and career. She encouraged all students to push hard to reach their goals. A small town should never mean small dreams.
