The Granton Rotary Club announces Dale and Missy Walz as the honored Citizens for the 2017 Granton Fall Festival.

Both Dale and Missy come from small towns.  Dale was born in Lancaster, WI and grew up in Bloomington, WI.  While growing up, Dale enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing, and helping on the farm.

Dale attended a technical college here in Wisconsin, receiving his agribusiness degree.  Shortly thereafter, he moved to Granton and worked at the fertilizer plant.  Dale is the oldest of 10 siblings.

Missy was born and raised in Neillsville.  When she was growing up, Missy enjoyed reading and showing her horse at many local fairs and competitions.  Missy is the youngest of six siblings.

Their relationship started at the Clark County Fair, where Dale had a booth set up for his work.  They were giving away flyswatters, and Missy had to have not one, but two.  The rest is history.

Dale and Missy were married June 21, 1975.  Dale and Missy have four children, Jennifer (Phil) Tallman, who have three children, Elizabeth, Erin, and Ethyn; Nicole Walz who has a daugher Brittany; Becky Walz; and Justin (Cathy) Walz, who have two children, Morgan and Derek.

Dale works for Provision Partners in agronomy sales, while Missy is the assistant librarian at the Granton Community Library, where she has worked for over 18 years.

Dale and Missy are vital citizens in the village of Granton.  Dale has served on the village board as both a trustee and as president.

Dale is also the treasurer for the Southern Clark County Sportsman’s Club, which recently brought life back to Sherwood Park.

Missy is the secretary for the Granton Fall Fest Committee and works very hard to make Fall Festival the best it can be.

Both Missy and Dale are members of the FFA Alumni and play very important roles in the FFA Dairy Breakfast held each June.

Dale is the “egg runner,” taking the eggs from the ballpark to the farm, and Missy is an “all over the place” coordinator.  She helps at the farm, at the ballpark, and really, wherever and whenever she is needed.

Missy and Dale both serve on the Granton Park Board, Dale as President, and Missy as the concession stand manager.

Dale and Missy belong to St. Anthony’s Church in Loyal, and are part of RICA, which is an adult religious education program.

In their free time, Missy is an avid bowler while Dale curls in Marshfield.  They are avid sports fans, cheering on the Badgers, Brewers, and Packers.

Missy loves to read books.  It is a passion of hers.  Dale enjoys hunting, sometimes taking trips to Colorado to hunt elk.

“The dedication and commitment Dale and Missy have shown to the Granton community is evident in the thousands of hours that they contributed to the village board, community library, FFA Alumni dairy breakfast, community park, Red Cross blood drive, their church, and much, much more.  It is out honor to honor these two Granton community members,” a Granton Rotary press release stated.

As Granton’s 2017 Honored Citizens, Dale and Missy Walz will lead the Granton Fall Festival Parade Sunday, Sept. 10.  This is truly an honor for two people who work so hard for the Granton Community.
