Granton FFA Honors Adults and Greenhand Members
at
Fall Banquet October 25, 2006, Page 14 Transcribed by Dolores (Mohr) Kenyon The Granton FFA chapter hosted its annual fall banquet Saturday evening at the high school. The evening began with a delicious meal prepared by the FFA Alumni and school kitchen staff. FFA officers then began the program with a dynamic entrance and opening ceremonies. This year’s officers are: Chelsea Coyle – President, Aaron Gorst – Vice President, Kelli Garbisch – Secretary, David Steinbach – Treasurer, Connie Eibergen – Reporter, Cory Eibergen – Sentinel and Jada Martin – Historian. During the program, 21 high school members were inducted into the chapter as Greenhand members. They include Justin Hasz, Mandy West, Julie Vine, Alexis Blakey, Kevin Eibergen, Jennifer Ritzert, Brandon Wucherpfennig, Katie Gorst, Alan Garbisch, Michael Welch, Ashley Andrews, Jordan Beilke, Hanna Hasz, Ryan Olson, Emily Olson, Kevin Polsean, Dustin Dix, Ken Genteman, Sonja Johansson, James Helgeson, and Jacob Helgeson. New Greenhand members must develop a Supervised Agriculture Experience program, memorize and recite the FFA Creed and begin active involvement in the FFA program of activities before receiving this honor. Several adults were also honored at the banquet. Honorary FFA Degrees are present to adults that are active in supporting the FFA chapter and Agriculture Education program. Those being presented the Honorary Degree this year were: Debbie Trewyn, Dale and Missy Walz, Tom Witzel, and John and Joan Martin. They were given a plaque to symbolize their honorary membership. Audrey Meyer of Clark Trophies was also honored at the banquet with the Distinguished Service Award. She was recognized for the many hours of service given to help the FFA chapter in her business. The final award of the evening was the VIP (Very
Important People) Award. This
year’s recipients were Pat and Wally Garbisch, lifetime members of the Granton
FFA Alumni. The Garbisch’s
continue to be outstanding supporters of the FFA activities throughout the
years. The program also included a video highlighting chapter activities, made by Reporter Connie Eibergen, Greeting from State FFA Parliamentarian Melissa Ploeckelman and a brief introduction of the new FFA computer PACES (Potential Agricultural Careers for Exploration and Success) program by Katie Klessig, national agriculture ambassador.
