for the Class of 2015

Granton High School has designated the valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2015.

Cheyenne Redcay is the valedictorian.  Throughout high school she has been a member of National Honor Society, Granton FFA Chapter, Spanish Club and Varsity Club.

Redcay has served as FFA vice president of community service and as president and secretary of both the National Honor Society and Spanish Club.

Redcay was a member of the girls’ basketball team all four years of high school.

“I also enjoy volunteering my time helping run blood drives and assisting around the community,” Redcay said.

Cheyenne Thomas is the salutatorian.  She has participated in many extra and co-curricular activities, including cross country, track, forensics, Granton FFA Chapter and National Honor Society.    Thomas is currently serving as National Honor Society Secretary.

Thomas has received many awards for her participation, including three years as most Valuable Player in cross country, one year as All-Conference in Cloverbelt Conference cross country, two years as Honorable Mention in Cloverbelt Conference cross country, 2014 WIAA Scholar Athlete, Most Improved Player in track for one year, and one year as Honorable Mention in Cloverbelt Conference track.  Combined, Thomas has received 26 medals in cross country and track.

Thomas has also been on the high honor roll throughout high school.  She is the daughter of Wayne and Tennille Thomas.

The Granton High School Commencement Ceremony will be held in the central gym at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23.  Twenty-one members of the Class of 2015 will received their diplomas.

Various presenters will award scholarships.  The graduates will be introduced by district principal Rhonda Opelt.  Granton School Board member, Doug Eichten will present diplomas.  District administrator Charles Buckel will present valedictorian and salutatorian awards.

The class flower is white and orange calla lily.  The class colors are white and black. The class motto is “Sometimes we’re all too quick to count the days that we forget to make the days count.”

The class song is “End of the Summer” by Theory of a Dead Man.  Daniel Eichten coordinates the Class of 2015 video.  The Granton High School Band, under the direction of Jeff Merritt, will play processional and recessional selections.

Class advisors are Noah Werner and Angela Kolpanen.  Class officers are: Calley Leggate, president; Danielle Eichten, vice president; Alanna Dix, secretary; and Kevin Johnson, treasurer.
