State’s 1st Lady visits Reed School
Jessica
Doyle (second from right), wife of Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle, visited the
Reed School east of Neillsville last week.
The one-room school house was recently dedicated as the State
Historical Society’s 10th historic site.
Welcoming the First Lady to the century-old school building were Dale
Williams (right) of the Historical Society, Amy Zoschke (second from left),
the school’s interpreter and Linda (Suchow) Grottke (left), a former student
of the school that was closed in 1951. The
Reed School continues to be open to
the public on both Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. until the end
of September. Zoschke is on hand
to give tours and answer questions from visitors.
There is no charge for admission.
