The Owen High School band, consisting of sixty students, had been very active his year. The most popular activity of the year was our Amateur Hour which was held in the fall. This group will also share in the activities of the Eau Claire Music Festival.

The Owen High School Chorus, which consists of thirty-seven students, under the direction of Mrs. Thieme, began their work in October. A fine concert was given at a Christmas program by the mixed group. Everyone is now working on solos, duets, and other arrangements for the Eau Claire Tournaments to be held in March.

For the fourth year, the Cloverblossom and Cloverbud have been published by the Senior Class. The Cloverblossom, which is the school news for the Owen Enterprise, was published each week for the enjoyment of our parents, the students, and the general public. The Cloverbud, our school paper which is prepared and published by the Senior Class, has been sold to the students during the past year. It is our hope that it was enjoyed by all, and our efforts were worthwhile.

4 The happy freshman register.
5 Our first day of school
14 The first football game of the season. Loyal traveled her for a non conference game and was defeated by a score of 13 6.
17 Congratulations Rosemary Jensen, for being elected our new cheerleader.
20 A football game with Withee which ended in a tie, 12 12.
27 The team traveled to Neillsville only to lose a good battle, 12 0.
28 Big day for the freshman. Initiation!
October
10 Afternoon game with Cadott. 40 6 score, not in our favor.
11-12 Short vacation. Teachers convention at Eau Claire.
18 Juniors picked out class rings.
19 The Senior Class traveled to Eau Claire to have class pictures taken.
24 Homecoming queen, Dorothy Heibsch, was selected.
25 The Homecoming festivities got under way with the pep meeting, skits and a big bonfire.
26 Our Homecoming festivities came to a victorious close when we defeated Stanley by a score of 25 0. Homecoming queen, Dorothy Heibsch was crowned at the game and again at the dance by football captain, Bernard Lindgren.
November
7 F.H.A. Rally held at Greenwood.
15 Amateur Hour sponsored by Band and Orchestra.
19 First basketball game of the season was played at Marathon City. Owen was the winner by a score of 35 32.
22-23 Thanksgiving vacation.
30 Basketball game at Gilman. Owen 53, Gilman 35.
December
4 Defeated Dorchester there by a score of 60 43.
6 Seniors delight. Class pictures arrived. F.H.A. Silver Tea.
11 Thorp downed us there by a score of 67 45.
13 Christmas concert presented by the Owen Band.
20 Grade school presented its Annual Christmas Operetta.
21 Christmas party. Also lost a good battle to Stanley which ended with a score board reading Visitor 58, Home 52. Christmas vacation started.
25 Merry Christmas.
January
1 Happy New Year.
2 Christmas vacation was over and we all returned to school again.
8 Congratulations boys for defeating Edgar on our home floor. Score 39 33.
10 Owen lost to the Withee Bluejays by 56 48.
15 Baskeball game Owen 74, Neillsville 42.
17 Junior Class rings arrived.
18 Defeated Withee here, 63 51.

27 Eau Claire Tournaments begin. Eagles won over Dunn Aggies by 73 to 37.

The F.F.A. this year consists of fifty-five members. The officers are; President John Anderson, Vice President Duane Fredericks, Secretary Dean Welker, Treasurer Elden Grube, Reporter Kenneth Bombach, Sentinel Arnold Awe, Advisor Mr. Ferries. Money was earned by selling garden seeds and treating seed grains. This money will be used to make a camping trip during summer vacation. Last years trip to Canada was enjoyed by all those who were able to go. A joint sleigh-ride party of the F.H.A. and the F.F.A. members was held in December.

This year the F.H.A. consisted of thirty-six members. Mrs. Weirsig, our advisor, helped to make the year a success. The officers are: President Julia Muenich; Vice President, Sylvia Novak; Secretary, Janet Needham; Treasurer, Joan Strohkirch; Historian and Parliamentarian Arlene Anderson. One of the most important projects of the year was the Annual Tea held in December. It was well attended and a huge success. Dances in the gym at noon and a Hard Times Dance were sources of income for the year.

This year thirty-three eager students are interested in Forensics which includes humorous and serious declamations, extemporaneous reading and speaking and oratory. Last year the following students received high ratings at Eau Claire; Marjorie Munson, Harriett Plummer, Jim Stephens, Barbara Hilts, Arlene Schigley, Janice King, Priscilla Nason, Bernetta Bragstad, Barbara Allen, and Ruth Sailor. Nancy Nason received an A rating in Eau Claire and also in Madison with extemporaneous reading.

This year our annual will again cover the period from March first of our Junior year to March first to our Senior year.
These are the students who represented Owen in the Eau Claire forensics contest:
Serious Declamation: Ruth Sailor and Barbara Allen.
Humorous Declamation: Bernetta Bragstad and Ticky Nason.
Extemporaneous Speaking: Darlene Pyatt.
Extemporaneous Reading: Julia Muenich and Nancy Nason.
Four Minute Speaking: Arlene Schigley and Janice King.
Non-original Orations: Barbara Hilts and Jim Stephens.
Original Orations: Marjorie Munson and Harriett Plummer.
Nancy Nason went to the state contest and received an A.
The 1951 Valedictorian was Harriet Plummer. Joan Welker was the Salutatorian. Other students remaining on the honor roll during their four years in high school were; Annette Warych, Barbara Hilts and Virginia Smith.
The award given by the American Legion Auxiliary for Good Citizenship, Scholarship and Character was given to Barbara Hilts. Harriet Plummer and Barbara Hilts both received Arion Awards in Music, presented by the Kiwanis. The American Legion award was given to Paul Bladl and Barbara Hilts receive the DAR award.
Last year the music departments participated in two music festivals, one in Loyal and the other in Eau Claire. The following names are those that participated;

Last year four Owen Key Clubbers, Don Mills, Maurice OKonski, James Stephens and Jack Larsen attended the International Key Club convention which was held in Miami, Florida. As a service club for the school and community, a club to exercise individual and group initiative, a club to develop leadership, the Key Club has again been as asset to our school in the many projects they have undertaken for the betterment of our school, its students and our community. Monthly banquets, several trips, dances, winter sports parties and meeting made up our social activity for the year.

One of the greatest accomplishments in the Own High School is the orchestra which consists this year of fifty members. This organization is under the direction of Mr. Schulze. The greatest event of the year, for this group is participating in the Eau Claire Music festival.
