Henry Rundle went to work in the woods with his father Frederick Rundle, a civil war veteran, at a very young age. His Father cooked at one of D. J. Spauldings camps on Popple River. Henry was known as "Cookee" and did various jobs about the camps and was soon regarded as an all-round lumberjack. Soon he would become foreman at H. Lowry's camp.
