Loyal American Legion Celebrates 90 Years

The Loyal American Legion celebrated its 90-year anniversary Saturday, March 21, at the Legion.

Rev. Pat Herdt of the Loyal United Methodist Church gave the invocation.  The dinner was served by the Loyal Lions Club.  Guest speaker was volunteer general manager Kirk Rodman.  Rodman showed slides of different memorials and projects being done at The Highground near Neillsville.  Dan Campbell, club manager, gave a report on what had been accomplished over the past year.  Commander Pete Rinka recognized and awarded Legion member Peter Lindner for 50 years of continuous service to the Legion.  A certificate from the Legion headquarters will be given to him.

A moment of silence was followed by a bell ringing for each of the members who passed away in the past year.  They included Charles Florence, Carl Ihlenfeld, Rev. Roman Kaiser, Wilbur Kehrberg, Ed Miller, Allen Prior, Norman Roth, Conrad Goehring, Sharon Rinka, Dee Rowley, Lester Morrison and Jack Schmidt.

Post Chaplain Vern Dahlby ended the evening with a prayer.
