THE ED MINSHALL FAMILY
John Edward Minshall was born in Thamesville, Ontario, July 23, 1868, and came to the U.S. in 1885, when he became depot operator at Romeo, Mich. In 1890, a year after his marriage to Florabelle Owen, they located at Carlton, Minn., where he worked two years for the St. Paul and Duluth Railroad, now the Northern Pacific Railway. He later moved to Taylor Falls, and in 1892 to Stevens Point, where he was dispatcher for the Wisconsin Central Railroad. When the Soo Line division moved to Abbotsford in 1900, Mr. Minshall located in Abbotsford, and to the time of his death acted as operator and depot agent here. His wife, who died Nov. 3, 1935, preceded him in death.
"Old Soo Line," as Ed was called, liked outdoor sports, including fishing.
He was survived by a daughter, Mrs. Viola Rusk and a son, Leslie.
