CARL B. THOMPSON
Carl B. Thompson was one of eight brothers and one sister born to Abbotsford pioneers Ole B. and Rachel Thompson who emigrated from Norway in 1872. In his early years, he was an engineer on the Wisconsin Central Railway, operating in central Wisconsin, and later operated a Coop-general merchandise store in Abbotsford for 12 years. He then entered the service of the Jewel Tea Co. of Chicago. He was with the Company for forty years serving in various capacities with the firm. He retired as assistant sales manager.
Ever mindful of his home town, he donated a substantial sum of money to the Abbotsford High School in 1965. The gift was intended for the purchase of needed items above and beyond the ability of the community to provide.
In recognition of the generous gift, the high school library was dedicated to him in 1966, and also the 1967 yearbook, the Falconite.
