This might be the Charles Ouimette homestead,
located in Holton Township, Section 34, four miles east of Abbotsford.
Yesterday I found the attached "needle painted" picture of the "Charles
Ouimette Homestead Holton" on the Internet. It certainly looks the same,
with the exception of a window to the left of the door.
The photo with the family
has the right amount of children and sexes to match, if it was taken about
1890.
It would make sense for it to be a part of the
Abbotsford Centennial booklet, since the Ouimette's were among the very
earliest settlers in the area, about 1876. Mrs. Ouimette was Clara Belle
Hull; her parents, Nelson and Jane (Bullen) Hull, moved to the area also by
1880, homesteading a 160-acre farm just northwest across the section from
where the Ouimette's lived.
