SPENCER LOCALS

Lee Pickett left Monday for the harvest fields of the west.

Miss Genevieye Acherman is taking a vacation from her duties in the Fair Store.

Miss Lillian Langdon, deaconess, of Asbury Hospital, Minneapolis, is at home for a vacation.

Mrs. J. E. Crosby of Mellen spent a few days hire with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. Dygart.

Mrs. E. K. Pickett and Miss Alma Schmidt attended teachers' institute at Wausau last week.

L. Komers (Kommers) went to Marshfield Monday where he will have charge of a number of race horses.

Miss Dora Lundahl of Dorchester, visited her sister, Mrs. F. W. Heath, Saturday and Sunday.

Mrs. D, V. Richardson and children of Loyal have been spending a few days with relatives in Spencer.

Mrs. Goy Blaisdell of Eau Claire came Thursday to spend a few days with her parents C. Stoltenow and wife.

Miss Amanda Raabe went to Beloit Saturday, She will also visit at Hustisford and Burnett Junction before returning.

Mrs. J. B. Kolsta and two children of Fond du Lac came Wednesday to visit at the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. F. A- Soles.

Misses Susan and Elizabeth Bloom went to Chicago Monday to visit their brother and may remain

there it they secure positions.

Herman Metzger, one of the Soo line operators, has been taking a vacation, spending part of the

time at his home in Grand Rapids.

Mrs. Anfterheide and daughter, who have been spending the past month with her daughter, Mrs. A. L. Boock, went to their nome at New Uim Thursday, Miss Frieda Schmidt accompanied them for a visit.

A. F. Luepke and family have moved into one of Mrs. Gardiner's houses and Mr. Luepke is now tearing down his house for the purpose of building an up-to-date residence.

The old house in question was built by James Vought in 1875.

Mesdames W. E. Hayward, L. Driscoll, and H. C, Andrews entertained a number of their friends

with a hay-rack ride and picnic party last Wednesday. The ride ended at L. Driscoll's where a bountiful supper was served in a small grove. Needless to say it was a happy time.

C. M. Varney purchased an elevator while in Iowa and is now preparing to move his family to that

place. It is nearly four years since Mr, Varney came to Spencer to engage in the hardware business and during the time he and his family have made many friends and all regret their going.

Miss Setright of Chicago is the guest of her cousin Mrs. L. Dygart.

Miss Myrl Farrington went to Rib Lake last Tuesday for a two weeks visit Russel Gardiner of Minneapolis came Sunday to spend a week with his grandmother.

Miss Elizabeth Schwantes returned Saturday from a visit to her brother near Granton.

Edgar J. Johnson arrived home from Grand Forks, North Dakota last week to visit his father.

A fishing party consisting of E. G. Ingham, A. A. Damon. S. E. Graves and Guy Ingham, went to Spirit Lake by auto and spent several days last week.

Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Follett left Sunday for a trip thru Washington and Oregon.  They will visit at the homes of B. J. Landaal, Spokane, and Don Gardiner North Bend, Oregon during their absence.
