Miss Rispa Crowell went to Colby Wednesday returning; Thursday.
 

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Earl Daugherty, Saturday, May 7, a son.

Mrs. Kate Schweiger of Rhinelander visited old friends here last week.

J. R. Kehnanof Unity was the guest o£ Frank Allar Friday and Saturday.

Mrs. A. W. Stewart returned home Wednesday from her visit at Park Falls.

Mrs. C. S. Hinkleyand Miss Rose Tardiff of Abbotsford were Spencer callers Monday.

Mrs. E. C. Pickett: and daughter, Myril went to Rice Lake to spend a week or ten days.
 

Quite a number of Spencerites went to Marshfield Saturday to attend H. A. Marten's auction.

Miss Mabel Welch returned to her home at Chelsea Wednesday after visiting at the Dysart home.

George Farrington spent several days at Wausau last week attending a meeting of the county board.

Mrs. Jennie Gardiner held an auction on her farm Saturday afternoon to sell some of the personal property.

Herman Schwanties (Schwantes) has his crew of men engaged in digging the cellar (or his new residence which he will erect this summer.

Frank Allar and family moved from Unity into their new home here last week. Mr. Allar is engaged in buying and selling hay and other farm produce.

Mrs. Hercher and daughter of Menasha visited her daughter, Mrs. Art Cole here last week. Mrs. Cole accompanied them to Park Falls to visit relatives a few days.

Mrs. Ehlerr received a message from Cornucopia, Sunday telling o f the serious illness of her youngest son, Herman, from diphtheria. She left Sunday evening to go to him.

Mrs. S. Plomer arrived home Monday from Lincoln, Nebraska after an absence of nearly two years. She was accompanied by Floyd Driscoll, who has been visiting at Minneapolis.

The board of appraisers for the Soo line right of way. K. J. MacBride, railroad attorney, and Spencer Marsh, attorney for Frank Pickett, were in town last week on business. The appraisers decided upon $2000 as a reasonable amount
for Mr. Pickett. The buying of the right of way will soon be finished.

Mr. Dahlman, (Carl Daumann) an aged man living with his daughter, Mrs. (Fritz) Dahl west of Romeo was found dead in in his bed Monday morning. He has been in a quite feeble condition for sometime from the effects of paralysis as well as his age, but on Saturday was around as usual, and the family was shocked Monday when upon investigation as to his failure to awaken he was found cold in death.

On Sunday the saloons in this town were closed and we enjoyed the quietest and most respectable Sabbath day it has been our privilege to have for many years. Much credit is due our marshal, Mr. Whitmore, for so far enforcing the law and it is to be expected that every citizen of sound judgment will stand by him. Even some of the men engaged in the sale of liquors are glad of the change that enables them to have Sunday for rest.
