C. F. Colby went to Wausau Monday to serve on the jury.

Miss Jennie Salter of Unity was a Spencer caller Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. A. Soles went to Granton Monday to visit their son Ed.

Will Gantvoort went to Ogema Monday morning where he will be employed.

Bert Andrews sold a span of colts to R. B. Salter of Colby last week for $350.

Mrs. Stevens of Dorchester was the guest of Mrs. W. F. Blaisdell several days last week.

Mrs. L. Messer went to Unity Saturday for a few days visit at the home of her son Ernest.

A number of Dorchester people came down Saturday to attend Paul Schroeder's auction.

Miss Joyce Graves, Loyal high school student, spent Saturday and Sunday here with her parents.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Reas entertained at cards Thursday evening. About thirty guests were present.

Mrs. Colby of Minneapolis came Wednesday for an extended visit at the home of her son, C. F. Colby.

A few friends of Miss Ina Damon gave her a pleasant surprise Saturday evening in honor of her birthday.

Mrs. John Daval went to Phillips last Tuesday to visit Mrs. W. B. Parks. She will also visit at Park Falls.

Mr. and Mrs. John Kuehnau and Mrs. J. H. Clark of Unity drove down Sunday to spend the day with relatives.

E. G. Ingham purchased three horses and several carriages of Paul Schroeder and has entered the livery business.

Miss Elizabeth Schwantes was taken to Marshfield Friday and underwent a successful operation for appendicitis.

Mrs. Baldwin, who has been spending a week with her sons here, returned to her home near New London Saturday.

Jonas Ayer and Roy Crawshaw have placed fine lights outside their business places on Clark Street which makes a decided improvement.

Earl Anderson's body passed through Spencer Sunday on its way from St. Paul, where he died after an operation, to Unity, his former home.

Mothers' day was observed at the M. E. church Sunday morning and the following mothers composed the choir: Mrs. J. Gardiner, Mrs. W. W. Swan, Mrs. D. Bodle, and Mrs. E. K. Pickett.

Paul Schroeder and family went to their new farm home near Grand Rapids Monday. This leaves Hotel Marathon without a proprietor, a fact much to be regretted. One of Spencer's great needs is a first class hotel.

D. M. Hanson received news Monday of the sudden death of his mother at Winona, Minn, while enroute to Owatonna. Miss Mary Hanson and her uncle, George Farrington, left that night for Mayville where interment will be made.

The Spencer, base ball team played its second game, of the season Sunday with Colby and won. The boys appeared in their new suits which are gray and red. They have a good line up and it is expected they will make a good showing this season.

Hon. Eugene Chafin of Chicago, an able speaker, writer and statesman, who was Presidential candidate on the prohibition in 1908, will speak in the M. E. church Saturday afternoon at 2:30. No admission will be charged but a collection will be taken. Every one is invited to come and hear Mr. Chafin. There will also be two or three numbers by home talent.
