Friday, 29 June 1906 Spencer Rev. A. K. Conklin was a Marshfield caller Friday. Miss Dora Ebs spent a few days at Loyal last week. Miss Martha Schwan is a guest at the Lake home this week. Miss Ida Parrett went to Oshkosh Saturday to attend summer school. C. Stoltenow is building an addition to his store to be used for a storeroom. Miss Selma Blankenburg spent a few days last week with her sister east of Unity. A A. Damon, F. W. Heath and Frank Hayward were Marshfield callers Thursday. Mr. Merrill of the Ingham and Merrill Mercantile Co. arrived Monday afternoon. Miss Frances Lorbiecki of Amherst is the guest of her sister, Mrs. R. J. Bashinski. Claude Dygart went to Berlington Sunday where he will be employed by the N. P. R. R Gill Hayward came home Sunday for a short visit at home before going on to Fond du Lac. Mrs. E. H. Gross and Miss Ina Damon went to Abbotsford Monday to attend the Lundahl - Heath wedding. Walker Hayward came home from Fifield Wednesday where he has been at work for several months. Miss Ora Reas and Paul Schafer of Moon drove over last week and spent several days with relatives and friends. Ed. Cool, who has purchased the house owned by Gabe Hubbard, moved his family to their new home Saturday. Miss Ella Blankenburg who has been teaching near Unity closed her school Friday with a program and picnic and is now at home. Gabe Hubbard and family started for North Dakota Saturday, having taken up a homestead there. He goes with a horse-traders outfit and expects to be several weeks on the way. Mrs. N. S, Artman and children of Troy, Mont., arrived recently. No further trace has been found of Mr. Artman who became lost while out hunting a few weeks ago. It is thought he met death in a river near Troy. Mrs. F. J. Schluenz and children of Park Falls came down Wednesday to visit relatives before moving to St. Paul where Mr. Schluenz will be employed in the Armour packing house. Mr. Schluenz came down Friday. A miscellaneous shower was given Miss Maude Lake at her home Tuesday evening. About twenty-five young ladies were present and made the occasion a very pleasant one. Chocolate, wafers and cake were served. The sad news of Rev. Colby’s death was received Monday. He died Sunday at his home at Waupaca of pneumonia and had been sick only a few days. For several years he has conducted services here in the Baptist church quite regularly and by his friendly ways and true Christian life has endeared himself to all who knew him. His family have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in and around Spencer.
