Lutheran Church, Mayville, WI, at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. James Mallmann and Rev.
Matthew Shive officiating.
Visitation: The visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7 from 1:00 p.m.
until the time of service at the church.
Kurt H. Gardebrecht of 210 Kandy Dr., Theresa, WI, and formally of Milwaukee,
83, was called home to the Lord on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at Mayville
Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Mayville, WI.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 7, at St. Johns Evangelical
Lutheran Church, Mayville, WI, at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. James Mallmann and Rev.
Matthew Shive officiating. The visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7
from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Entombment will take
place at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield, WI.
Kurt was born on June 3, 1926 in Hayes, Wisconsin, to August and Marie (Schoessow)
Gardebrecht. He was united in marriage with Dolores Dietham on May 31, 1952. He
was employed by the former Steinman Lumber Company in Milwaukee, WI.
Kurt was a member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mayville, WI. He
was also a member of the Theresa American Legion Post #270 and a veteran of WWII
serving in the Army. Kurt was a member of the Mayville Senior Center where he
enjoyed playing cards.
Kurt is survived by his wife; Dolores, Children; Candance (Tim) Stelmszewski,
Waterford, WI., Debbie Cameron, Wauwatosa, WI., Gary (Kelly) Gardebrecht,
Glendale, WI., Sister-In-Laws; Joyce (Marvin) Bruni, Hartford, WI., Mabel Luepke,
Marshfield, WI., Brother-In-Law; Edward (Mary) Diethman, Adams, WI.,
Grandchildren; Kimberly, Gina, Jami, Jessy, Josh, and 6 Great Grandchildren.
Kurt is preceded in death by his Parents, 7 brothers and sisters.
Memorials may be directed to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mayville,
WI.

Marriage Notice

Gardebrecht - Diethman Marriage
St. John’s Lutheran Church, Spencer, provided the setting at 2:30 Saturday afternoon for the marriage of Miss Dolores Diethman, Milwaukee, and Kurt H. Gardebrecht, Milwaukee, son of Mrs. August Gardebrecht, Suring. The Rev. Richard Scholtz officiated at the double-ring ceremony. Mrs. Norman Kasper sang “Lord’s Prayer” and “O Perfect Love” during the nuptial service. Mrs. Robert Putzier, Shawano, was the organist.
As the bride approached the altar she was attired in an entrained gown of nylon tulle. Her finger-tip veil was attached to a headpiece adorned with orange blossoms, and she also carried a bouquet of calla lilies centered with a white orchid.
Bridal aides included Mrs. Emil Gardebrecht, Hartford, sister-in-law of the groom, who served as matron of honor and Miss Florence Bruss, Milwaukee, and Mrs. James Brauer, Suring, and Mrs. Edward Diethman, Milwaukee, as bridesmaids.
Mrs. Emil Gardebrecht was attired in an orchid gown of nylon tulle with a lace bodice and jacket. She carried a bouquet of white roses and sweet peas. The bridesmaids wore identically styled orchid gowns and lace picture hats, and carried bouquets of yellow roses and sweet peas.
Attending the groom as best man was Emil Gardebrecht, Hartford, brother of the groom. The groomsmen were Kenneth Diethman, Madison, brother of the bride, James Brauer, Suring, brother-in-law of the groom, and Edward Diethman, Milwaukee, brother of the bride. Mabel Diethman, sister of the bride, served as flower girl. She was dressed in white organdy with a hat and bouquet like the bride’s.
The bride’s mother was present in a pink frock with navy accessories. The groom’s mother wore navy blue.
A supper was served in the church basement followed by a reception at the home of the bride. A dance was held later at the Country Ballroom. Ninety guests were present at the wedding.
Young Mr. and Mrs. Gardebrecht will reside at 1541 N. 22 St., Milwaukee, when they return from their honeymoon in South Dakota.
The bride, a graduate of Spencer High School, is employed in Milwaukee.
The groom is employed at Stienman Lumber Co., Milwaukee.
Guests were present from Milwaukee, Waukesha, Hartford, Eau Claire, Crandon, Suring, Thorp, Colby and Madison.
