The child had been playing with some kittens in the yard and had been out of her mother’s sight only a *** Note: The rest of the article was cut off and was not available at the time of transcription. ----Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 10/18/1945 Becky Jean Engel, 16-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Engel, who live a mile west of Spencer in the town of Sherman, Clark county, was drowned Monday afternoon about 1:30 o’clock in a small pool in a rock garden at her home. The little girl had gone out into the yard to play in the afternoon and the body was found about two o’clock by her sister, Catherine, 6, in the pool, which is about 22 inches deep. The child was born June 17th, 1944, in Marshfield, and is survived by her parents and the sister.
