(21 Sept. 1913 – 11 Sept. 2006) Clarence M. Sturgul, 92, of Rochester, Minn., formerly of Shawano, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2006 in Rochester. Clarence was born Sept. 21, 1913, in the town of Cassel, Marathon County, the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Grzesiak) Sturgul. On Nov. 18, 1953, he married the former Carol Johnson. She preceded him in death on Aug. 24, 1982. Clarence was a Realtor and well-known auctioneer in Shawano, Antigo and surrounding areas, working for Hilgenberg Realtors, Equity Co-op and others. Clarence was a longtime Shawano resident, moving to Rochester, a few years ago. Even though he lived in Minnesota, he remained an avid Packers fan. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano and also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Clarence is survived by: a brother, Peter Prondzinski of Wausau; and a sister, Mary Ann (Edwin) Wilichowski of Marathon City; special friend, Wanda Rasch; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carol, three brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday Sept. 15, 2006, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano with the Rev. Len Evers officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery with military rites conducted by Shawano American Legion Post No. 117. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Swedberg Funeral Home, Shawano, is in charge of arrangements.
