Maxine Strunk, 88, Colby, died Friday, April 24, 2009 surrounded by her family, under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice at Pine Ridge Assisted Living, Colby.

Funeral services will be noon on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Christ United Church, Athens.

The Rev. Kenneth A. Dix will preside. Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Milan. Friends may call Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.

Peterson-Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens, is in charge of arrangements.

Maxine Strunk, 88, Colby, died Friday, April 24, 2009, under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice and surrounded by her family at Pine Ridge Assisted Living, Colby.

She was born June 24, 1920, in Bushnell, Neb., daughter of the late Thomas and Flora (Thoman) Keedy. On Nov. 14, 1942, she married William Strunk at First Methodist Church, Kenosha. He survives.

In 1946, William and Maxine moved to the Athens area, where they farmed in the town of Johnson until their retirement in 1979.

Maxine was a homemaker who enjoyed camping, fishing and baking. She was a member of the Christ United Church Women's Guild. She loved traveling with her husband and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, William, Colby; three children, Janice (Gary) Rietz, Fifield, Linda (David) Framke, Wausau, and Dennis (Cheryl) Strunk, Athens; six grandchildren, Adam Rietz, Athens, Cynthia Hohn and Jennifer Paoli, both of Wausau, Jason Strunk and Samantha Strunk, both of Green Bay, and Christina Strunk, Marshfield; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Coralee (Vern) Sievert, New Ulm, Minn.; other relatives and friends. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one son, William Strunk Jr.; one brother, Robert Keedy; and two sisters, Hope Cutler and Dolores Robbins.

Funeral services will be noon Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Christ United Church, Athens.
