Hollatz, 78, of D2223 Elm St., town of Day, Stratford, died at 5:20 a.m. April 17, 1995, at St. Joseph’s Hospital where he was admitted on April 9, 1995. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church in the town of Green Valley. The Rev. James Schmeling will officiate. Music will be provided by Dolores Mundt, organist, with congregational singing. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephews, Kurt, Dan, Nathan and Matthew Hollatz, Steve Beining, Tim Ottelien, Richard Miller and Robert Veers. Burial will be in Grace Lutheran Church Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by VFW Post No. 6352 of Stratford. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hansen’s Funeral Home and again at the church after 12 noon on Thursday. Memorials may be designated in Walter Hollatz’ name to the family. He was born Nov. 13, 1916, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Fred Sr. and Wilhelmina (Jacoby) Hollatz. He married Lorraine Olson on July 8, 1946, in the parsonage of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Rozellville. He was educated in town of Green Valley schools. After his education, he helped on his family’s farm and then, as a young man in 1939, he moved to Detroit where he was employed by Ford Motor Co. until he was drafted into World War II. He served in North Africa, Italy and Sicily from March 1941 to August 1945. He returned to this area and after his marriage farmed in the town of Day until his retirement in 1983. He continued to live on the farm until his death. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in the town of Green Valley, and of VFW Post No. 6352 of Stratford. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; four sons, Wayne (Penny) Hollatz, Tom Hollatz, and Dave Hollatz, all of Stratford; and Dennis Hollatz of Auburndale; two sisters, Karen (Edmund) Beining of Sheboygan Falls and June (Ronald) Ottelien of Stratford; 17 grandchildren; four brothers, Fred Hollatz Jr., and William Hollatz, both of Mosinee, Arthur Hollatz of Loretta and Edward (Pat) Hollatz of Tipler; four sisters, Margaret Miller of Mosinee, Bertha (Charles) Veers of Stratford, Dorothy (Elmer) Kreuser of Brookfield, Lynn Rogowsky and Clara Miller, both of Wauwatosa. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Keith Hollatz; one granddaughter, Lori Hollatz; one sister, Olga Hollatz; and one brother, Adolph Hollatz.
