David Myszka, 80, Edgar, died Thursday, July 16, 2009, at Colonial Center, Colby. The funeral mass was celebrated July 20 at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. The Rev. Robert Streveler presided. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

David E. Myszka, 80, Edgar, died Thursday, July 16, 2009, at Colonial Center, Colby. He was born July 4, 1929, in Athens, son of the late Jacob and Mary (Nowicki) Myszka. On Sept. 4, 1950, he married Catherine Hall at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. She survives.
David was the owner and founder of Myszka Lumber Mill Inc., incorporated in 1959. He served on the Edgar Public School Board for 22 years, was a member and office holder in the Edgar Lions Club for 20 years, and served from 1983 to 1990 on the Marathon County Handicapped Children's Education Board. He also served as president of the Edgar Area Business Association and vice president of the board at the Bank of Edgar.
In 1988, David traveled to Japan with the Wisconsin delegation on a trade mission for exporting lumber, and in 1996 he was a volunteer for the Farm Progress Days and was named the Edgar Jaycees "Man of the Year." David was a trumpet player and member of the Edgar Community Band and served on the board of directors for the Central Wisconsin Polka Club.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine, Edgar; four children, Dennis (Lynette) Myszka, Edgar, Mary Kay Light, Winfield, Ill., Jeanne Myszka, Rib Lake, and Ken (Eyde) Myszka, Waukesha; six grandchildren, Shelly (Todd) Zimmermann, Liza (Wesley) Locklear, Eric Myszka, David, Susan and Eve Light; four great-grandchildren, Morgan and Riley Zimmermann, and Drake and Landon Locklear; one brother, Ray (Eldora) Myszka, Marathon; and other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Regina; two sisters, Bernice Pinter and Margie Koskey; and a brother, Edward Myszka.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2009, at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. The Rev. Robert Streveler will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Peterson-Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar, and again from 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the church.
