Arthur W. Zuelke, age 85, Stratford, died on Friday, March 26, 2010 at
Marshfield Care Center.
Arthur was born on February 21, 1925, in the Town of Eau Pleine, Marathon
County, the son of Henry and Marie (Klumb) Zuelke.
He was a lifelong resident of Stratford attending Stratford schools and was a
graduate of Stratford High School. He farmed for fifty years in the Town of Eau
Pleine and Town of Cleveland on his farm "97 Acres."
He served on the board of directors of the Stratford State Bank for twenty-four
years (1971-1995), and served on the board of directors of the Stratford Farmers
Co-op for twenty-seven years (1954-1981). He also served on the Stratford School
Board for fourteen years (1961-1975) and he sold Pioneer seed corn for
twenty-five years.
He married Delores Reckner on June 12, 1948, in Stratford. She later died. They
had three children, Richard, John, and Patti.
Arthur married Kathy Belgea, M.D. on November 28, 1975, in St. Paul, Minn.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Belgea-Zuelke, M.D. of Stratford; a brother,
Larry (Nancy) Zuelke of Menomonee Falls; and three sisters, Lois Zuelke of
Stratford, Ruth Olson of Schullsburg, and Anne Zuelke of Bloomington, Minn. He
is also survived by his children, Richard (Sandra) Zuelke of Monroe, John
(Kathy) Zuelke of Stratford and Patti Zuelke of Elkhart Lake. He is further
survived by three grandsons, Paul, Jesse and Jason; and two great-grandsons,
Jeffrey and Kelan.
He was predeceased by his parents; his first wife; and a brother, Robert.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31, at Zion
Lutheran Church, Stratford. Pastor Sue Eidahl will preside and Judy Polege will
be the organist for Daniel Wieland and Mary Wussow as vocalists. Burial will
take place in Zion Lutheran Cemetery and serving as honorary pallbearers will be
Dean Wieland and Donald Pernsteiner and active pallbearers will be Daniel
Wieland, Robert Ulrich, Paul Smith, Richard Rayborn, Charles Johnson and Bernard
Huser. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and
Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at Zion Lutheran Church, Stratford.
Sauter-Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to Zion Lutheran Church,
Stratford, The Marshfield Medical Research Foundation or Wausau Aspirus Medical
Center.
