Cherokee, Marathon Co., Wisconsin

Cherokee Sawmill, owned by the Olson family.

The Cherokee community closely borders Clark County's eastern line and is an extension of the Colby, WI community.  Cherokee is a small farming community which through the years has shared schools, churches, social life and cemeteries with the people of Clark County.  In its earliest days, it had a bustling sawmill at its hub.  When the area timbering gave way to crop and dairy farming, the sawmill was converted to an extremely successful implement dealership by Fred Olson and remains in that family to this day.  At one time there was a dance hall and church there as well.
