We the undersigned supervisors of the Town of Johnson, do hereby order that the said town be divided into three road districts as follows:

Road district No. 1 shall include two tiers of sections on the west side of Town 25 N of R 2 E, two tiers of sections on the west side of Town 24 N of 2 E and two tiers of sections on the west side of Town 24 N of R 3E and all the inhabitants liable to work on the highways there in, shall be and are here by assigned to work in Road District No. 1.

Road District No. 2 shall include two tiers of sections in the middle of Town 25 N of R 2 E, two tiers of sections in the middle of Town 24 N of 2 E and two tiers of sections in the middle  of Town 24 N of R 3E and all the inhabitants liable to work on the highways there in, shall be and are here by assigned to work in Road District No. 1.

Road District No. 3 shall include two tiers of sections on the eastside of Town 25 N of R 2 E, two tiers of sections on the east side of Town 24 N of 2 E and two tiers of sections on the east side of Town 24 N of R 3E and all the inhabitants liable to work on the highways there in, shall be and are here by assigned to work in Road District No. 1.

Bill No. 1

 

Respecting the construction of turnpikes for the year 1868.

Resolved, that all turnpikes constructed in the town of Johnson, during the year 1868, shall be twenty feet from outside to outside of ditches and shall be thrown up at least eighteen inches in the center of the pike from the bottom of the ditches.

All turnpikes to be commenced before the 1st of June 1868 and finished before the 1st day of November following.

That of John Rausch for turnpiking 37 ½ rods between sections 34 T 25 N of R 6 E and 4 T24 N of R 2 E.

Board met of per adjournment.

Present Supervisors Nason, Rausch and Ebbe.

Petition of John Mills and others for a highway presented and laid over on account of not having the requisite number of signatures.

Board accepted the contract of C. Hanson Ebbe to chop the timber on 180 rods of highway in District No. 2 as per contract, for $75.00.

After due consideration the Board passed the following orders:

Whereas, upon application of six freeholders, residents in said town of Johnson, for the laying out of a road as hereinafter described, we, the undersigned Supervisors of said town, did on the 25th day of May A.D. 1868 meet at the house of Nicholas Rausch in said town for the purpose of then and there deciding upon such application, it being the time and place fixed by us for that purpose; did proceed personally to examine such highway and having as here in after described; having as required by law, first made out a notice and fixed therein a time and place to decide upon such application for such highway, having five days before our said meeting caused such notice to be duly given to all occupants of the lands through which said highway passes, and such notice having also

been posted up in three public places in said town ten days before the time of said meeting, it is hereby ordered and determined, and we do hereby order and determine, that a highway be and the same is hereby laid out pursuant to such applications, as follows to wit:  commencing at the south corner of the section line between sections 33 and 34 Town 25 North of Range 2 east, and running due north one mile and one half on the United States Survey to the quarter post between sections 27 and 28 Town 25 North of Range 2 east, the line of said survey to be the center of said highway: and the same is established four rods in width, two rods on each side of the line of said survey.

Order No. 3

Williams in said town for the purpose of then and and then (sic) deciding upon such application, it being the time and place fixed by us for that purpose; did proceed personally to examine such highway and having as here in after described; having as required by law, first made out a notice and fixed therein a time and place to decide upon such application for such highway, having five days before our said meeting caused such notice to be duly given to all occupants of the lands through which said highway passes, and such notice having also been posted up in three public places in said town ten days before the time of said meeting, it is hereby ordered and determined, and we do hereby order and determine, that a highway be and the same is hereby laid out pursuant to such applications, as follows to wit:  commencing at the southwest  corner of section five (5) Town 24 N of R 2 E and running on the section line between sections 5 and 8, according to the United States Survey, one (1) mile due east to the SE corner of said section 5, the line of said survey to be the center of said highway; and the same is established four rods in width, two rods on each side of the line of said survey.
