Six area businesses are donating their time to work on a project to remodel a Neillsville house for Jason Gasiorowski.

To gain independence and live on his own, Gasiorowski united with local businesses Jan. 25 to remodel a house located at 220 Oak Street to suit his needs.

Gasiorowski has a disabling bone disease, a rare genetic condition causing bones to reabsorb at all the diarthrodial joints in his body.  He is currently confined to a wheelchair, living at home with his mother and stepfather.  At age 33, Gasiorowski wants and needs independence.

Gasiorowski purchased a home within the city of Neillsville; the home needs remodeling to give Gasiorowski the independence he lacks.

Local businesses working on the project include The Hand’s Foundation in Owen and Neillsville businesses Pioneer Plumbing Inc., Wood Wright Construction, Custom Heating and Cooling, Randy’s Electric, Sav-Rite Building Center and Russell’s of Neillsville.

Sav-Rite is supplying building materials, Pioneer Plumbing the plumbing, The Hand’s Foundation the demolition and construction, Custom Heating and Cooling the heating modifications, Wood Wright Construction the cabinetry and Randy’s Electric the electrical work.

These businesses united for the remodeling project and donated the cost of labor. Gasiorowski will only pay the cost of materials. Gasiorowski had received $8,000 in government funds to use for the project.

Area businesses may continue to work together for a yearly project in which they donate labor costs.

Pioneer Plumbing plans to keep the community informed about the progress of the remodeling project.  Gasiorowski needs additional materials to continue with this project.

Area businesses or individuals interested in donating or helping with labor can e-mail Cheri Taubenheim at taubenheimtony@hotmail.com.  Mail donations to: Cheri Taubenheim W4790 Granton Rd, Neillsville, WI 54456
