YOUTH FELLOWSHIP

The Zion E. and R. Youth Fellowship are very active at the present time with an enrollment of twenty-seven members.

We set up two annual goals for the organization.  The first is some project for the local church.  Under this goal we have been sponsoring “family nights” for the last three years.  Our aim is to bring the youth and adults of the church into closer fellowship and to urge families to turn to their church for recreation and fellowship.

Our other goal has been some contact with the outside world.  We formerly sent delegates to the Summer Camp at Green Lake.  This is still considered.  However during the last two years we have centered our attention on group field trips, because more of the members have a chance to share the experience.  These trips have been: Northern Wisconsin in August of 1952; the St. Paul area in October of 1952; and a trip to Chicago in June of 1953.  On each trip some church related institution was visited in order to acquaint the children with the overall church work.

These field trips are more than trips to distant places.  With each adventure as a group there is a broadening of the person in character, understanding, and judging of values – Yes, in a spiritual way as well.  Such growth is vital for adulthood.

Earning the money for these trips is fun, as well as beneficial.  The projects call for group cooperation and they develop in the youngsters the habit of working together in their church.

We are deeply indebted to the youths and adults of the past decades who worked patiently and hard to build our Youth Fellowship into the fine organization that it is today.

An important factor in the success of a youth organization is the attitude and help of the parents and adult members of the congregation.  We owe gratitude to Mrs. Richard Albrecht for her work with the Youth Fellowship during the months when we were without a minister between the leaving of Rev. Dechant and the arrival of Rev. Koehler.

There are some young people in the congregation who have not, as yet, taken advantage of the opportunities offered to them through the study, work, and recreational activities of this organization.  We invite all young people, whether members of this church or not, to join our Youth Fellowship.  The Organization meets every second and fourth Monday evenings of the month at seven-thirty in the church basement.
