Jail Museum receives Grant for Archive Materials
The Wisconsin Historical Society and Wisconsin Council for Local History announced $10,500 was awarded to 20 affiliated local historical societies through the 2010 mini-grant program, including the Clark County Jail Museum.
The 1897 Clark County Jail Museum, Inc. received a mini-grant to help purchase archive materials.
This year’s affiliate mini-grant program focused on projects and activities strengthening a local organizations ability to preserve historical collections and improve public access to those collections and other resources.
Projects partially supported by the mini-grant program are an important part of the work done by local organizations to help collect and preserve the state’s history at the community level.
A generous Wisconsin Historical Society donor – who has an interest in supporting local historical societies, schools and cooperative efforts between these groups – made the grant program possible.
A partnership with the Wisconsin Council for Local History allows the grant program to be offered annually.
The Wisconsin Historical Society’s Field Services Program provides support and educational opportunities to local history groups throughout the state.
The Wisconsin Historical Society also partners with the Wisconsin Council for Local History, a nonprofit organization including all historical organizations affiliated with the state society promoting communication and cooperation among local history groups.
