Tea at Tufts’ celebrates sixth year

With “Mardi Gras” theme

Guests converged at the Tufts’ Mansion in Neillsville for the sixth annual Tea at Tufts’ held Sunday, Mon. 30 in two sessions – at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.  The event is the major fundraiser for the “Parenting the First year” Newsletters distributed month by the UW-Extension to new parents and parents of young children in Clark County and was sponsored by WCCN.  Mistress of Ceremonies was Roni Kaczor-Smith.  “A Taste of Mardi Gras” was this year’s theme for the elaborately decorated tea tables, such as the one show below, decorated by Brenda Larson of Neillsville and Sally Pokorny of Merrillan. Guest attended from far and near. One family (above), all from Abbotsford, included Mary Carlson (far left), who came to the United States in 1947 from England, a country well known for its tea time.  She attended with daughters Jennifer Jakel and Stephie Nelson (standing, center and right), Kathy Peissig (seated) and granddaughter, Julia Jakel (not pictured.
