Younger Brother, a rock band comprised of Gabe Elmhorst, Nate Elmhorst, Mark Sydorowicz and Will Elmhorst, is scheduled to release its debut album titled “Long Day” Saturday, Feb. 13, at Strike Time Lanes in Neillsville.
The CD-release party will be held for the band to connect with fans, network with other musicians and celebrate finishing the CD. The band will play originals from their album and usual cover versions of songs from other artists.
The group started out in 2007 performing at informal engagements for family and friends. After gaining more stage experience, they launched themselves into a bi-state market and have grown their fan base in central Wisconsin and the greater Twin Cities area.
Helping charitable groups serve the needs of local communities is an emphasis with the band. Over the last three years, the band has performed at numerous festivals, benefits and fundraisers to raise support for various causes, including burn treatment centers, animal shelters and the fight against breast cancer.
Younger Brother’s individual sound and style developed quickly; it was clear the band had a common vision to put out an album of their original music. Two demanding weekend sessions in the studio produced “Long Day,” the band’s debut album composed of 11 original songs ranging from ballads to heavy hitting guitar rock. The album is the product of a highly collaborative effort between the members.
All members of the group contributed to the music and helped shape the lyrics, arrangements and instrumentation. Because of their open approach to writing, the different musical influences of each musician are captured in the band’s songs. Despite the diversity of theme, structure and style, the album finds cohesiveness in the strength of the band’s vocal harmonies, upbeat melodies and powerful, guitar-driven core.
The members maintain a level-headed perspective regarding the role in their lives of the music and monthly performances. Collectively they agree, “We’re not quitting our day jobs, and we want this to stay fun for everyone.”
The album will continue to be a way to share their music with family, friends, and fans, but the group is ready to sign on the dotted line if the right offer comes along.
