First Generation
1. Phillip1 Rossmann, son of Ludwig Rossmann and LOuisa Catharina Ebling, was born in Nierstein, Rheinhessen, Germany March 4, 1836.He married Angeline Dohogne in Cape Girardeau, MO, 1859. Angeline was born in France February 12, 1840. She was the daughter of Father Dohogne. Angeline died November 1923 in Greenwood, Wis., at 83 years of age. Buried in Greenwood Cemetery.

ANGELINE ROSSMAN - Mary Angeline Dohogne was born in France, Feb. 12, 1840 and entered into rest November 13, 1923. At the age of 15 she came to America and lived in Cape Giradlau [Girardeau], Missouri, with her parents until 1859, when she was united in marriage to Philip Rossman. To this union six sons and three daughters were born. Five sons and three daughters still survive. Two years after her marriage she moved to Plymouth, Wis. Here while her husband served his country, she took upon herself the burden of doing for her family. In 1871, with her husband and children, she came to Clark county, which at that time was a vast wilderness, and took up pioneer life, standing shoulder to shoulder with her husband in all the hardships that come to the pioneer. The loss of a devoted husband and a fine father in 1891, was the great sorrow of her life. Her life's work is ended and she indeed earned the reward of the faithful. Deceased is survived by the following children: John Rossman, Duluth, Minn.; Adolph Rossman, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Lucy Kees, Chicago, Ill; Ira Rossman, Waupun, Wis.; Mrs. Mary Moulton, Zion City, Ill.; and E.J. Rossman, Wilmington, Cal. With the exception of E.J. Rossman, the children were all here for the funeral. She is survived by two sisters and one brother. - Greenwood Gleaner
Evidently Angeline had a sister in Sheboygan county.
Phillip died December 8, 1891 in Chicago, Illinois, at 55 years of age.

Greenwood. ...News from Assemblyman Phillip Rossman, is to the effect that he is not expected to recover from the operation he is to undergo the present week at Rush Medical college, Chicago. Mrs. Rossman went to Chicago Wednesday last to be with her husband through his sickness.

Death of Hon. Philip Rossman. Hon. Philip Rossman, of the town of Beaver, died in Chicago, Tuesday, Dec. 8th, 1891, of cancer of the abdomen. Mr. Rossman had been troubled with poor health for several months, but his physicians seemed to be unable to determine the cause of his illness. He went to Chicago a few weeks ago for treatment, and it was soon discovered that he had a cancer. On Friday last it was decided, after all other efforts to effect a cure had failed, that he would have to submit to an operation for the removal of the cancer, with but little hope of recovery. The operation was performed and the cancer removed, but it soon became evident that he had not the vitality left to survive it, and Tuesday afternoon he passed away. Mr. Rossman was an old resident of this county, and an extensive lumberman and farmer in this section, who had as many personal friends as he had acquaintances. He has held several town offices, was a member of the county board from Beaver for several years, and a year ago was elected to represent the Clark county district in the Wisconsin legislature, which position he filled with credit to himself and his party, and which position he held at the time of his death. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn his death, most of whom were in Chicago with him at the time he died, and accompanied the remains back to Greenwood, where they arrived last night. He was an honored member of the Odd Fellows fraternity at Greenwood, which organization will have charge of the funeral services at that place tomorrow at 1 p.m., Rev. T.G. Owens, of this city, officiating.
FROM A HISTORY OF CLARK CO. Mr. Rossman was born in Germany in 1836, and came to Sheboygan Co., Wis. with his parents in 1851. He worked on the farm for a few years, then learned the carpenter's trade , and was in Iowa, Missouri and Tennessee at work at his trade. He married Miss Angeline Dohogne in 1860. They came to Clark Co. in 1871, since which time he has been engaged in farming, lumbering and manufacturing. He owns and operates a saw mill on Rock Creek , which is on a farm in Town of Beaver. He owns another farm of over 200 acres and five or six hundred acres of valuable timber land in this town. He has held the offices of town treasurer and chairman for several years, and is a member of I.O.O.F

5 iv. Edward Fred Rossmann was born in Clark Co., Wis. 1867. Edward died February 19, 1933 in Miami, Florida, at 65 years of age.OBITUARY - MIAMI DAILY NEWS, Feb. 20, 1933. Funeral services for Edward Fred Rossman, 66, who died yesterday at his home , 2020 S.W. 24th. St. , following a long illness, will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the Joseph P. McGhan Funeral Home. The Rev. C.R. Palmer of Holy Cross Episcopal Church, of which Mr. Rossman was a member, will officiate. The body will be sent to Chicago for burial, accompanied by members of the family. Mr. Rossman, who was associated with the Garrison Investment Corp., moved here two years ago to make his permanent home. He had been a winter visitor for a number of years, coming from Chicago, where he had retired as a pharmacist. He leaves three brothers, Adolph, Greenwood, Wis.; Elmer and Ira Rossman, Wilmington, California; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Moulton, Zion, Illinois; Mrs. Lucy Kees, Chicago and Miss Mabel Rossman, Duluth, Minnesota.
Philip Ashby reported that Eddie was involved in real estate speculation in the 1920's. He was wiped out in the depression and died in Miami in the 1930's.
+ 6 v. Lucy Sophia Rossmann was born March 17, 1868. 7 vi. LIonel Rossmann was born in Tn. Plymouth, Sheboygan Co., Wis. January 1869. He married Carrie Rossman 1897. Carrie was born May 1876.LIonel died March 8, 1912 in Zion City, Illinois, at 43 years of age. LIONELL ROSSMAN Lionell Rossman died at his home in Zion City last Friday, March 8, 1912, from the effect of locomotor ataxia. He had just returned to Chicago from this city (Greenwood, Clark County), where a reunion was held last Christmas, at the home of his mother, Mrs. Angeline Rossman. He had been suffering of the disease for some time past. He leaves a wife, mother, several brothers, and a sister to mourn his death.
Phillip Ashby heard in the family, that Lionel was known as the black sheep and died of Venereal disease in the early 1900's,
+ 8 vii. Ira J. Rossmann was born 1873. 9 viii. Elmer J. Rossmann was born in Greenwood, Wis. November 17, 1877.He married Gertrude J. Rhea in Clark Co., Wis., August 24, 1904 Gertrude was born in Norway April 18, 1888. Gertrude died December 1975 in Los Angeles, Cal., at 87 years of age.
Elmer died February 1971 in Wilmington, Los Angeles, Cal., at 93 years of age.
In 1920, Elmer 42 and Gertude 42 were living in City of Neillsville.
Living in California when his mother died in 1923.
10 ix. Mabel Rossmann was born in Clark Co., Wis. September 19, 1882. Delayed Clark Co. birth registration. Mabel Angeline Rossman, born in 1882, vol. 50, page 128 Mabel died November 1975 in Long Beach, Los Angeles, CA, at 93 years of age. She played piano or organ at a wedding in Greenwood, 1914. Was living in Duluth, MN in 1933, according to brother Edward's obit.
Second Generation
\. John P.2 Rossmann (Phillip1) was born in Cape Girardeau, MO January 1860.
He married Mary H. Quinn in Alexander Co., Illinois, October 10, 1887. Alexander Co., Ill. is in the southern most tip of Illinois, directly accross the Mississippi River from Cape Girardeau , MO, where John's mother's family was living 20 some yrs. before, and John was born. Perhaps they moved to Alexander Co.
Mary was born in Illinois May 1861. Her parents born Ireland. She was the daughter of James Quinn. Mary died January 27, 1912 in Duluth, MN, at 50 years of age. Her death cert. in Duluth said she was to be buried in Bessemer.
He married Rosa Rossman in Duluth, MN, 1914 ?. Rosa was born 1872 ?.
John died 1930 ? at 70 years of age. He must have died between 1923 and 1933. He did not die in Duluth but may be buried there. MN Historical society index of death certificates from 1908-1955 for state of MN Did not find John, Philip or Rosa Rossman in the index.

11 i. Phillip3 Rossmann was born in Michigan December 25, 1891. Phillip died April 1972 in Mobile, Alabama, at 80 years of age. Was living in Chicago in 1923, when his mother died.
12 ii. Mabele M. Rossmann was born in Michigan July 1893. 13 iii. Edward Rossmann was born in Minnesota June 1899. Edward died 1951 at 52 years of age. #9; Soc. Sec. has only an Edward born Sept 14, 1898. 14 iv. Grace Rossmann was born in Minnesota 1901 ?. 15 v. Harber Rossmann was born in Minnesota 1908 ?.]. Adolph Paul2 Rossmann (Phillip1) was born in Plymouth, Wis. May 22, 1862.
He married Anna Marie Klein in Clark Co., Wis., October 27, 1895. Anna was born in Brandenberg Province, Germany Feburary 4, 1877. She told he son Robert, she was the daughter of Charlie Brussow and his Polish fianceel. Anna died March 21, 1933 in Clark Co., Wis., at 56 years of age. Clark Co. death record - Annie Marie Rossman who died 21. March 1933, death vol. 14 , page 573, born 4. Feb. 1877, in Berlin, Germany, daughter of Charles Brussow and (blank) - both parents born in Germany. Buried in Greenwood cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Adolph Rossman were held at the home Friday afternoon 1:30 , the Rev. W. Norman Grandy officiating. Burial was in the family lot at Greenwood. Mrs. Rossman died at her home north of Loyal, Tuesday evening after an illness of several months. Annie was born Feb. 4, 1877 near Berlin, Germany. As a infant, she came to America and lived with her grandparents at Freeport, Ill. During her early childhood, she came to Loyal and made her home with an uncle and aunt, Mr. & Mrs. Jacob Klein On Oct. 27, 1895, she was married to Adolph Rossman. With the exception of nine years residence at Evansville, their home has been the Rossman farm near Loyal. Mrs.Rossman leaves to mourn, her husband Adolph Rossman; four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Goehring, Detroit, Michigan; Mrs. Esther Ashby and Mrs. Hazel Walker, Madison; Kathryn , at home, and one son, Robert, at home Mrs Rossman was an active worker in the Loyal W.C.T.U. Those acting as pall-bearers were: H.P. Wanner, Julius Rossow, John Brandt, Emil Klein, Frank Yench and Joseph Hecker. CARD OF THANKS
Adolph Rossman and family wish to express their thanks to the many friends who so kindly expressed their sympathy and gave flowers during the illness and death of their wife and mother. Also to the W.C.T.U, The Farmers Union, The Loyal Farmers Union Shipping Association, The Maple Center School and the singers.
She was raised in the Klein household as Jacob's and Amelia's daughter and was loved by everyone. She was married as a Klein, but evidently later considered herself a Brussow. Her death certificate lists Charles Brussow as her father. Mother - not known. Informant was R. Rossman, her son.
The story in the Klein family is that she was the love child of one of the Brussow boys. Jacob Klein wanted to adopt her.
The Story in the Brussow & Rossmann families is that Annie was Charley Brussow's child by his Polish fiancee. He was to send for her when arriving in America. Instead, he married someone else. His wife didn't treat Annie well, so his mother sent her to live in Tn. Beaver with her Aunt and Uncle, Amelia Brussow & Jacob Klein.
He married Linda Rossmann in Loyal, Clark Co., Wis., 1934 ?. A short lived marriage. He also married Stena Severson in Loyal, Clark Co., Wis., 1940 ?. Stena was born in Norway June 13, 1876. Stena died November 7, 1956 in Clark Co., Wis., at 80 years of age.
Adolph died April 11, 1950 in Loyal, Clark Co., Wis., at 87 years of age.
OBITUARY Loyal, Wis., April, 1950 - Obituary also in Greenwood Gleener, Thurday, April 20. Adolph Paul Rossman, Loyal, died at the Madison General Hospital at 5:30 am. Tuesday. Death was caused by stroke and heart attack. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm. Thursdayat the Myre Funeral Home , Loyal, where the body is lying in state. The Rev. Raymond Fleming , pastor of the Methodist Church, Marshfield, will officiate and burial will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery bu Myre Funeral Home. Mr. Rossman was born May 22, 1862, in Plymouth. He was married to Annie Klein in 1895 , and she died in 1933. His second marriage took place to Mrs. Stena Lyle in 1940. He came to the vicinity of Loyal at the age of seven and was active in civic affairs of the Township of Beaver and Clark County. He aided in organizing the farmer's union, was a member of the school board, chairman of the Town of Beaver and a member of the Clark Co. Board. He is survived by his wife, four daughters,Mrs. Walter (Ruth) Goehring, Detroit,; Mrs. Stanley (Esther) Ashby and Mrs Harry (Hazel) Walker, Madison; and Mrs. Rex (Kathryn) Franklin, San Pedro, Cal.; one son, Robert, Eau Claire; six grand children and one great grand child, two brothers, Elmer, Willmington, Cal. ; Ira , Eugene, Ore.; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Moulton, Long Beach, Cal., Mrs. Mabel Rossman, Claremont, Cal., and Mrs. Lucy Keyes, Chicago. He was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Philip Rossman, early pioneers of Clark County

She married Walter Goehring in Tn. Beaver, Clark Co. Wis., April 16, 1918.
Walter was born in Wisconsin July 8, 1891. He was the son of George Goehring and Lizzie Melins. Walter died July 1974 in Detroit, Michigan, at 83 years of age.
Ruth died December 12, 1991 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at 94 years of age. She died in a nursing home in Colorado Springs, where she spent the last 14 yrs. of her life.
17 ii. Ester Angeline Rossman was born in Clark Co., Wis. May 15, 1898She married Stanley Ashby in Madison, Wisconsin. Stanley was born in Orfordville, Rock Co., Wis. March 20, 1898. Stanley died November 4, 1957 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at 59 years of age.
Ester died November 9, 1988 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at 90 years of age. Was in a Denver nursing home for 6 months. Had several strokes. In a letter to Marie Klein Farrell in 1953, she indicates that she and Stanley recently moved to Colorado Springs to be close to dau. Beverly.
18 iii. Hazel Francis Rossman was born in Clark Co., Wis. Sept.10, 1901.She married Harry Walker 1925. Harry died February 1, 1967 in Seattle, Washington. Buried in Madison, Wis. He was an auto salesman in Madison, Wis.
She married William Crabb 1972. William was born December 4, 1890. William died July 1981 in Seattle, Washington, at 90 years of age.
Hazel died May 3, 1991 in Seattle, Washington, at 89 years of age.
19 iv. RObert La Follet Rossman was born in Clark Co., Wis. January 1911.He married Armella Weyhmiller in Loyal, Clark Co., Wis., June 15, 1936 Armella was born December 11, 1911. She was the daughter of George Weyhmiller and Catherine Crossen. Armella died June 30, 1997 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, at 85 years of age.
RObert died September 17, 1987 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, at 76 years of age.
20 v. Kathryn Irene Rossman was born in Evansville, Wis. January 1921.She married Rex Franklin 1942 ?. Rex was born March 5, 1915. Rex died May 1984 in Ivanhoe, California, at 69 years of age.
Kathryn died March 8, 2002 in Kirkland, WA, at 81 years of age. She moved to Seattle to live with sister Hazel's granddaughter Jan in the spring of 2001.
