Neillsville Mayor Diane Murphy recently presented Highground Volunteer Kirk Rodman a $1,500 check to be used to furnish and remodel the new Learning Center located at The Highground.
The home, recently purchased by The Highground, will be remodeled to allow various displays and other educational activities to be presented in a conducive place for all.
Until now, The Highground was challenged to provide a location to accommodate all visitors in all weather conditions; a place to meet and view the educational expos meeting the mission of honoring veterans and their families; and educate about the cost of things ? the human cost ? available for the public.
The new Learning Center will provide a handicapped-accessible building to bring in displays and memorabilia and other educational showings. Tours via DVD will be available in a weather-permitting environment for all. This will allow The Highground to provide an environment to honor human courage and sacrifice.
?The Highground brings many visitors to the city of Neillsville and surrounding area which provides economic growth for the community,? said Murphy.
Through the addition of the Learning Center, these visitors will be able to visit regardless of the weather. The additional events with a new building will bring even more visitors to the area. The Highground is a place for everyone.
