Highground honors volunteers

The Highground Volunteer Appreciation Potluck was held Saturday Jan. 17, at the Loyal American Legion.

Approximately 75 volunteers enjoyed the evening of food, socializing and entertainment by the Clark County Choraliers.

The Bronze Level President Award was presented to Ken Jennings. The Presidents Volunteer Service Award recognizes and thanks Americans of all ages who contribute a significant amount of time to volunteer service.  Jennings contributed over 100 hours during 2008.

Recipients of the award receive an official President?s Volunteer Service Award pin, a personalized certificate of achievement, a note of congratulations from the President of the United States and a letter from the President?s Council on Service and Civic Participation.  Mitch Parish and Paul Hundreiser also received the prestigious award, although they were unable to attend the party.

Al and Terri Johnson, Rory Schutte, Larry Genteman, Skip Kabon, Bill Flemal and Ron and Nona Zepplin were awarded The Highground Award.

The Highground Award is presented to a volunteer who performs between 50 and 100 hours of volunteer service in one year.

Recipients were presented with a pin and a certificate saluting their dedication to The Highground?s mission of healing and education through their volunteer service in 2008.
