Join Diversity Day on The Highground, Sept. 21
The Highground is planning a Diversity Day event for Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and is offering area schools the opportunity to participate. Area students, grades three through nine, are encouraged to take part in this day of exploring diversity.
Considering the wealth of cultural resources in north central Wisconsin, Diversity Day will include presentations given by members of the Slovenian, Pomerania-German and Native American cultures, as well as physically challenged and others. The Highground tour will also include exposure to its developmental forest walking trails.
The mission and objectives of Diversity Day are to celebrate similarities and differences, to recognize misinformation, to claim pride in group identity, to understand the personal impact of discrimination through the telling of stories and to learn hands-on-tools for dealing effectively with discriminating comments and behavior.
The Highground invites schools to visit the veterans? park for a unique education-filled day. Teachers and students are encouraged to become a part of The Highground?s mission of healing and education.
For more information and to register for Diversity Day, call 715-743-4334.
The Highground is a place for all of us.
