‘Remembering their Sacrifice’ at The Highground
The Highground will hold its Memorial Day Celebration Monday, May 25, at 1 p.m. The Liberty Bell will toll, color guards will show their colors, guests will be welcomed and speakers will tell what Memorial Day means to them.
In addition to observing Memorial Day, the Fountain of Tears Statuary will be dedicated in the Meditation Garden. The GI stands tall, overlooking the pond of tears where the fallen soldier’s wife and child sit. The sculptor of the Fountain of Tears, Michael Martino, will speak to all present.
The Highground unveiled the GI statue at a ceremony in December 2008. The Fountain of Tears is one of four rooms within the Mediation Garden.
A special invitation was mailed to all those who made the Fountain of Tears Statuary possible with their generous donations.
The Highground hopes everyone will join them on this special day honoring those who served their country and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice so everyone may be free. The Highground is a place for everyone.
