Highground displaying World War II portraits
Throughout the month of March The Highground is displaying James Gill’s World War II portraits at the Learning Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
The collection includes 18 portraits of Wisconsin WWII veterans. Each portrait includes a caption board with a note or story from that veteran.
The Highground also has physical and pictorial WWII memorabilia from the Wisconsin Veterans Museum; Troy Buddenhagen, a military collector/re-enactor; and other area WWII veterans, some of which are beloved Highground volunteers/porch greeters.
Visit, walk back in time and take a few minutes to honor a generation the country is rapidly saying good bye to.
Upcoming Learning Center exhibits include: April – Desert Storm photos by Mike Weber; May – Tribute Gardens by The Highground master gardeners; and June – Always Lost: A Meditation on War.
“The Highground is a place for all of us.”
Madison resident James Gill, who has been a Wisconsin Public Television photographer since 1980, poses Wednesday, Feb. 23, at the Highground’s Learning Center with several of his World War II portraits that are being displayed at the Learning Center throughout March.
