Lori Nordman of Wisconsin Rapids and two friends walked from the center of the state at Pittsville to The Highground, raising donations for the Persian Gulf Tribute.  Pittsville Legion Post 153 displayed their flags as they sent Nordman off on her 33 mile walk early Sunday morning.

On her way along STH 73, she made her first rest stop at R & C Roadhouse where Marshfield American Legion Post 43 Commander Craig Johnston supplied them with Gatorade, water and snacks

They continued the walk until reaching the Clark County Humane Society where Karen Hoppa of the Neillsville American Legion Auxiliary provided lunch.  At that point, two more walkers joined Nordman for the next leg of the walk into Neillsville.  Once there, Nordman was joined at BP Drescher Oil by a total of 20 walkers.

Jerry (Veronica) Becker of the A & W presented Nordman with a donation, and Marla Raine (BP) donated water and refreshments.

The last leg of this walk into The Highground was “up-hill” most of the way. The walkers arrived at The Highground at approximately 5:45 p.m. to the ringing of the replica Liberty Bell. Lemonade and refreshments were served.

This may be the first of many upcoming walks to The Highground. A thank you is given to everyone who supported and participated in The Walk to The Highground. Volunteers and contributors are the Heart of The Highground.
