Neillsville PEO Chapter Celebrates 25th birthday!
Neillsville’s PEO chapter members, including nine charter members, gathered for a celebration of the chapter’s 25th anniversary Sept. 14th.
The Neillsville chapter was founded Sept. 22, 1984. Maryls Riedel presented an update about the 26 local young women who received scholarships from the Neillsville chapter throughout the years. These local scholarships totaled over $10,000. In addition, the chapter also contributes annually to PEO International and Wisconsin PEO scholarships and projects.
Lorraine Shaw presented a five-year review of the chapter’s accomplishments; all members shared thoughts and special memories of their PEO experiences.
The PEO sisterhood, founded Jan. 2, 1869, at Iowa Wesleyan College, is a philanthropic and educational organization interested in bringing increased opportunities for higher education to women. Approximately 6,000 local chapters exist in the United States and Canada, with over 240,000 active members.
The Neillsville PEO chapter looks forward to many more years of continued friendships and providing assistance to women pursuing their educational goals.
