1927 Neillsville, WI High School Annual

SENIOR JOKES

Mr. Imislund: "Ethel, it is stated in the topic about Joseph Cannon that he kept the tariff up by day and his anti up at night. Explain this."

Ethel Loberg: "He was in favor of the tariff being raised and he was very fond of playing poker; sometimes he made so much noise that he kept his Auntie up at night."

Mr. Imislund: "What was the Mayflower Compact?"

Alice Braun: "A poor excuse of the modern vanity case."

Mr. Imislund: "What did Washington desire to do after the Revolution?"

Ethel: "Drift down the tide of life and land where his ancestors ought to be."

"Lives of football stars remind us,

We should fight to win the race,

And departing leave behind us.

Footprints on the rivals’ face."

Mr. Olson: "Where’s that dollar watch of yours Elliot?"

Elliot: "Why that stopped when I stopped."

Mr. Olson: "If it ran when you did it never ran."

A SENIOR

You can often tell a Senior

By the manner of his walk

You can often tell a Senior

By the bigness of his talk.

But the gent you think a Senior

In knowledge ranking high

Is often just a Freshman

Even as you and I.

His hands in his jeans

His gaze afar.

His best girl fell

For his rival’s car.

The Owen football game was a great success.

There was a good gate receipt.

It showed Owen that Neillsville had school spirit as well as a football team.

It helped the merchants of Neillsville. Yah. Most everybody needed new clothes. And the football men had to take baths.

We have a great football team! How many big ten teams pull plays that fool the referee?

I ask you, now, I ask you.

BUG HOUSE FABLES

Mr. Imislund (On Monday morning) Altogether now; everybody sing – and everybody did.
