THE CRIMSON AND WHITE
Winchell Column
Flash! . . .
Flash! From Goose Creek to Black River on a Toast to
Toast cook-up --Attention Mr. and Mrs. N. H. S! Romance
isn't dead - we have positive proof - what could be
sweeter than the romance of Lonie, our perky
cheerleader, and the board-shouldered campus hero,
Lowell Schoengarth? . . . . or the long-endurance affair
of Doris Wood and --- three guesses! - not to mention a
couple of under-classmen - - young sprouts, we calls 'em
-- don't tell me you haven't noticed Jessie and Junior!
. . . . . and then we have it from good authority that
Kathryn A. and that Arndt boy are thataway about each
other . . . . . I bet you didn't know about Henny and
Betty either? ? ? we didn't think so . . . .
confidentially -- we wouldn't want this to get around
--- but one of our teachers is reported all-of-a-dither
about one Robert Rush . . . . . Miss Welch has interests
in Merrillan . . . and, of course, you'll be thrilled to
learn that that two Scout leaders get together
occasionally to discuss _____ . . . . . . then there's
Miss Fink and Mr. Becker --- that's since way back when
. . . . it seems that Mr. Winkley wears out a lot of
tires dashing to Manitowoc, where lives Miss Wright . .
. . . s') fact . . . . . Marie Eibergen, our
post-graduate, likes older men, especially teachers;
Especially a certain teacher at Granton . . . . Bud
Flynn prefers teachers too -- if they're brunettes,
taking training, and are named Polly Thompson . . . and
Oluf Olson likes diminutive brunettes - - am I right,
Ole? Did you and Ann meet at Young People's? . . .
The Kleckner-Dixon romance seems to have hit the rocks
--- too bad -- they were such a cut couple . . . our
speed-demon, Arne Schwellenbach, likes blonds at present
--- Joe Deutsch, to be explicit . . . and Bill Noel,
scintillating star leader in the Senior class play has
been making eyes at Irma Mott, says a little bird to me
. . . . Gloria Reindel, would-be man-hater, has decided
that her dream-man has come along , so -- who was that
lad we saw you at the movies with, Gloria? . . . . . .
we think DeWayne Nehs and Valda Munger make a swell
couple . . . . does athletic Harold Feirn do quite a lot
of day-dreaming about Edris Horswill? we think so -- in
fact, we're almost sure . . . . Of course, you've heard
about Marion Grow's hard-boiled heart-throb from
Merrillan . . . he writes nice letters . . . and Vahla's
good-looking boy-friend's name is Bob . . . . he's from
Loyal . . . .Dorothy Rennak has heart interests outside
of N. H. S. too . . . . and so has Keryl Brunzell . . .
Hughie H. still writes to Genevieve too, we hear . . . .
. Perhaps we're wrong . . . . . but we don't think so .
. . . . . it's spring, and . . . . . you know "In the
spring a young man's fancy . . .
Mrs. Thomas:
"Why are the quotation marks on this paper?"
Ruth: "Courtesy
of the person on my right."
Lives of
Seniors all remind us
We should make
our lives sublime
And by asking
foolish questions
Take up all
the recitation time.
Sentiments of
Henry Frantz.
Robert Dahnart to Mr. Winkley in geometry class: "In
triangle A B C you must bisect angle A C B, and that
gives you 'B. O.' "
