NHS Class of 1945 Reunion
Richard Prochazka Travels farthest- from Oregon; Mrs. Opelt has largest family –
Forty-six persons met Sunday, July 3, at 4:30 p.m. at the new high school for the reunion of the graduating class of 1945. Twenty three of this group was members of the class. The entire class consisted of 53 members.
The tables were decorated with gold mats and purple ribbons (the class colors) and assorted garden flowers. The place cards were miniature gold diplomas, tied with purple ribbon and containing the member’s graduating picture.
The program started with the singing of the class song. After a turkey dinner a tour was made of the new high school.
Class members present gave an oral account of what they had done during the last 10 years. Letters were read from members and teachers unable to attend.
Prizes were awarded to Richard Prochazka of Portland, Ore., for coming the greatest distance; Mrs. Arthur (Addie Jean Farrand) Drescher, being married the longest; Roger Short for being the last to be married; Mrs. Rudy (Marcella Lipke) Opelt for having the most children.
The following attended the reunion: Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Aumann, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Rood (Joyce Neperud), Sparta; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Rosandich (Arlene Opelt), Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pankou (Leana Ott), Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Leon Kapfer (Betty Pepper), Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Prochazka, Portland, Ore.; Mr. and Mrs. William Schlinsog, Mt. Horeb; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Prochnow, (Helen Trewartha), Waupaca; Mr. and Mrs. William Neuhaus (Violet Wachholz), St. Paul; Miss Ruth Zipfel, Bay City Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Roger Short, West Allis.
Those from Neillsville attending were: Mr. and Mrs. John Reinart (Velda Dahnert), Mr. and Mrs. Art Drescher (Addie Jean Farrand); Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kissling; Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Kroll; Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Opelt (Marcella Lipke); Mr. and Mrs. Charles Neff; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Zager (Ethel Ormond); Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Roberts (Willmette Russell); Miss Ruby Meihack; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kunze (Rosie Wieting); and Mr. and Mrs. Don Lipscy (Hilda Swann).
It as decided the class would meet again in five years. Arrangements are to be made at a later date.
