Thorp Ceremony
Old Abe, Civil War Eagle | Postings inside the Cannon Trailer | Thorp Courier Reporter, Nancy Anderson recorded the firing of the cannon with a Re-Enactor, dressed in period costume behind her. |
A happy crowd dispersed, some carrying blue and gray commemorative pens furnished by author, Harold Zander. Many headed for the American Legion Hall for a light lunch furnished by their Auxiliary. | The American Legion Auxilary provided a lunch for everyone at cost ($255.00 paid by the History Buffs) but, we gave them an extra $100 for their outstanding holiday service. | Lower level of the American Legion Hall where ham sandwiches, sliced cheese, pickles and delicious frosted homemade cake was enjoyed with coffee or milk. |
