47th Wisconsin Regiment

Service
The Forty-seventh Wisconsin Infantry Regiment was organized at Camp Randall, Madison, WI, and left the state February 27, 1865.
It proceeded to Louisville, Ky. and shortly thereafter it was transferred to Tullahoma, TN, where the regiment was employed in drill and guard duty until the latter part of August of that year, when it moved to Nashville and was mustered out of the service of the United States on the 4th of September 1865.
It reached Madison, WI, on the 8th of September 1865, and shortly thereafter was disbanded.

Original strength, 957;
Gain -- in recruits in 1865, 58; total, 985;
Loss -- by death, 34; deserted, 23; transferred, 29; discharge 87; mustered out, 812.
