US Army-grew up in Willard, Hendren Twp., but enlisted in Lena, IL where he was working on a farm owned by his uncle, Galen Clair; 

Hintz, George Edwin Living   Navy  17 Mar 1925   He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.  He was out of the service
a few months, and then re-enlisted in the U.S. air force.  He retired
from the air force after 20 years on active duty.
