Globe Church concludes
125th Anniversary Celebration
The Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, located in the Globe area in the Town of Weston, has had a year-long celebration of its 125th anniversary. |
The 125th anniversary of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church was hardly a passing affair.
The members of the congregation of the church located in the Globe area northwest of Neillsville have spent the better part of the year celebrating the church’s beginning in 1882, as well as the 125 years, and seven generations of families since then.
Following the celebration’s theme of “The Constant Melody of His Mercy,” a special commemorative 60-page booklet chronicling the church’s long history has been printed for congregation members. The spiral-bound publication contains historic pictures of the church founders. It continues on, taking note of the church’s first marriage, first baptism and first burial. In its concluding pages, the booklet identifies present officials and members of the church, and includes colorful pictures of church-sponsored activities over the years.
Last January, the church began holding the first of its 125th Anniversary Services in which one of the former pastors of the Church delivered a sermon.
This past Sunday, “Reformation Sunday,” was the last of the services. Once again, a former pastor of the church, Kevin Hanke, was there, joining in the singing of hymns, including a solo of “The Lord’s Prayer.”
